Privacy — irishpub.com.au

irishpub.com.au collects little personal information: what you type in the contact form, and ordinary technical logs.

irishpub.com.au collects as little personal information as it can. The two ordinary sources are the contact form and the technical logs that any website sees: an address on the internet, a browser type, a time, and the page that was asked for. This page says what that information is for, how long it tends to last, and how you can ask about it.

The site is an editorial guide. It is not a shop, a membership club or a licensed venue. It does not run accounts. It does not sell a list of readers.

The contact form

When you use the contact form you send a name, an email address, a topic and a message. That information is transmitted to the editorial inbox so the desk can read the note and, where it makes sense, reply. It is not used to build a marketing list. It is not sold.

Do not put payment details, health records or other people’s sensitive information in the message. If you do, the desk will treat the extra data as a mistake and avoid copying it into a guide.

Messages may be stored in the inbox for as long as they are useful for a reply or a correction. If you want a message deleted where that is possible, write again from the same address and say so. A deletion request cannot always unwind every technical copy, but the desk will not keep a note for conversation’s sake.

The form is provided through a third-party submission service. That service processes the message in order to deliver it. Their own notices apply to that processing, in addition to this page.

Logs, analytics and cookies

Servers and the hosting platform record technical logs so that the site can be kept up, errors can be seen, and abuse can be limited. Those logs are not read as a biography. They are read as operations.

This publication does not require you to create a profile. If a future analytics tool is added, it will be for counting page use in aggregate, not for following a person across the rest of the web. You can use the site with a browser that blocks optional cookies. The guides will still read.

Embedded maps or media, if they ever appear, would bring their own requests. The pages as they stand are text, images hosted with the site, and the contact form.

Officials and the law

If the law requires the desk to keep or to hand over information, the desk will do what it is required to do and no more. This is a small editorial project, not a data warehouse.

The Australian Privacy Principles apply to many organisations in Australia. Even where a small publisher sits under a threshold, this site still treats personal information as something to minimise. The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner publishes public guidance if you want the formal frame.

Children

The guides are written for adults. The contact form is not meant for children. If a message appears to have come from a child, the desk will not use it in a page and will not seek further contact.

Your requests

You may ask what personal information the desk holds about you in the inbox, and you may ask for a correction or a deletion where that is possible. Use the contact form for that request. Say that it is about privacy in the topic or in the first line, so it is not read as a note about stew.

If you only wanted the cultural guides, you do not need to write. Irish pubs in Australia and the pages linked from the home page do not require a name.

This notice may be updated when the way the site is hosted or the way the form is delivered changes. The date that matters is the date on the page you are reading. The footer on every page also states that the content is general information, not professional advice — including not privacy-law advice tailored to your situation.

A question about your information

Use the contact form if you want to know what was sent, or to ask that a message be deleted where that is possible.
